Maintenance, is an important requirement for any refrigeration and air conditioning plant, our contracts are tailor made to our clients specific requirements whether it’s a simple plant inspection with a written report on the work to be done, or a fully inclusive contract, including parts and labour. We offer monthly, bimonthly, quarterly and major servicing.
Services
We have a compressor refurbishment department which includes removal, refurbishment, reinstallation and recommissioning of screw and reciprocating compressors.

2011
JNC Thermal Systems was founded by Jeremy Kleynhans at the beginning of 2011, Jeremy started off the business from a small mini factory in Westmead. He worked alone, with an assistant for about 6 months before hiring another 2 staff members. Working day and night he managed to get the business off the ground.
2012
In 2012 he employed 2 more staff members, the 3 teams were working flat out, maintaining and repairing all types of Commercial and Industrial cold storage facilities. JNC Thermal successfully completed their first Commercial Refrigeration retrofit at Ohlanga Distribution center this year and gained the trust of the massive distribution company Tradeport.
2013
In 2013 JNC Thermal employed another 4 staff members to join the team, in between servicing and maintaining their ever growing cliental, they successfully manufactured and installed an Industrial Refrigeration plant at Browns Cash n Carry in Richards Bay. This was a R1.5M contract which consisted of a 625m² freezer at -20⁰C and a 580m² cold room at 2⁰C. Bitzer equipment was used as well as an inhouse electrical control board with Danfoss controls.
2014
By 2014 JNC Thermal Systems had 12 staff members and 5 vehicles operating on the road. This year, in between servicing and maintaining their cliental, JNC Thermal Systems designed, manufactured and installed another big Industrial Refrigeration plant in Phoenix Industrial Park, Favours Cash n Carry. This was a R1.9M contract which consisted of a 735m² freezer at -20⁰C and a 480m² cold room at 2⁰C. Bitzer equipment was also used as well as an inhouse electrical control board with Danfoss controls.
2015 to 2019
In April 2015, Jeremy sold JNC Thermal Systems to Alvin Brown and relocated to Canada with his family. Alvin took on all of JNC Thermal Staff and moved the business to a bigger premises in Westmead. At this stage Alvin had a lot of work to do to earn the trust of JNC Thermal clients as the new owner. All the clients remained with JNC Thermal and Alvin proceeded to grow the business and finding new clients.
2020
JNC Thermal Systems currently has 19 staff and 10 vehicles, not only are they one of the leaders in Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration, they are also one of the few qualified and certified ammonia system specialists in KZN. With companies like Rhodes Food Group, Afripack, Afrox, Feltex and the Tradeport Distribution Centres entrusting their plants and equipment with JNC Thermal Systems, the company is forever growing and striving for excellence.
2021 – Building Capacity & Expanding Capabilities
Invested in growth with the acquisition of a new company premises Successfully supplied, installed, and commissioned freezer systems in the Eastern Cape Celebrated Deren Hariparsad’s 10-year milestone, recognising dedication and expertise Delivered a major piping upgrade and pump replacement project at Feltex (Silverton, Pretoria) Completed critical production chiller upgrades for Huhtamaki and JJ Plastics Supplied and installed a new chiller system for Gundle Plastics
2022 – Rapid Response & Technical Excellence
Installed a 500 kW chiller for Feltex Rosslyn (Pretoria) Supplied and installed a Climaveneta chiller for Feltex Silverton (Pretoria) Expanded the JNC team and welcomed our first apprentice, Layton Brown Completed major equipment upgrades and refurbishments for Spar Natal Provided rapid solutions to production-critical failures: Supported JJ Plastics with a temporary Piovan chiller, ensuring minimal downtime Assisted Toyoda Gosei during a major breakdown by deploying a Tricool chiller Delivered a laboratory air conditioning system with re-heaters and fresh air integration for Afripack Mobeni Established a dedicated training centre cold room, investing in skills development for future technicians

Celebrated Amith Ramkison’s 10 years of service Completed a freezer plant hot gas defrost upgrade for Tradeport Distributors Supplied and installed a new chiller system for Afripack Consumables Manufactured, supplied, and commissioned a 50 kW chiller for Toyoda Gosei Executed a full steel piping replacement for valve stations at Spar Natal Distribution Centre Delivered a major upgrade for Huhtamaki, including the installation of a new dry cooler for extruder operations
2024 – Advanced Upgrades & System Optimisation
Continued investment in skills development with the addition of a new apprentice, Dylan Suttie Selected, supplied, installed, and commissioned a 320 kW Climaveneta chiller for Feltex Autotrim Completed the installation and commissioning of new hot gas blower systems for freezer plants at Favour’s Cash & Carry Replaced condenser coils and oil coolers on refrigeration systems at Favour’s Delivered multiple upgrades at Spar Natal Distribution Centre: Replacement of valve station drip trays with 304 stainless steel Conversion of phase 1 screw compressor motors from star-delta to soft starting systems Replacement of Phase 1 BAC cooling towers
